Ten energy-efficient bus projects across the country will share $55 million in grants from the Federal Transit Administration, an arm of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation.

The grants are provided through the administration's Low or No Emission Vehicle Deployment Program, which was established to promote the adoption of energy-efficient technologies by transit agencies.

Some of the regions sharing the grant money include Louisville, Ky., southern Indiana, southern California and Lancaster, Pa.
