Tesla Recalls Targets Faulty Seat Latches

Tesla Inc. is recalling 11,000 of its Model X electric crossover vehicles to check for a safety flaw in second-row fold-down seats.

The company says misadjusted seat cables could allow a second-row seatback to move forward in a crash. Tesla, which uncovered the issue in internal testing, reports no evidence of the problem occurring in customer-owned vehicles.

The flaw affects cars produced between the end of October 2016 and beginning of September 2017. Tesla estimates only 3% of vehicles made during that period will require an adjustment, which can be done by the company’s mobile repair service.
