Renault says two of its factories in France will begin building delivery vans next year to alliance partners Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors.

Renault’s plant in Maubeuge will build variants of the next-generation Renault Kangoo small commercial van and its Nissan NV250 variant. The company’s facility in Sandouville will supply Mitsubishi with a van based on the Renault Trafic light commercial van that will be exported to Australia and New Zealand

Nissan is spending €450 million ($515 million) to prepare the Maubeuge factory to be the manufacturing hub for the next-generation Kangoo, including an electric variant.

Alliance Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn says the French factories were chosen because of their efficiency. He notes that Renault has invested €1.4 billion ($1.6 billion) in France this year.
