Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. is expanding the use of its new inline-six engine and mild-hybrid system to the Range Rover SUV.

The 3.0-liter flat-six, which teams a turbocharger with an electric supercharger, debuted earlier this year the HST performance variant of its Range Rover Sport SUV. The powertrain replaces a V-6 engine that JLR sourced from Ford Motor Co.

In the Range Rover, the inline-six produces 395 hp and 406 lb ft of torque. JLR says the vehicle can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 140 mph. Fuel economy is listed at 30.4 mpg on the new WLTP European cycle.

JLR also is introducing new LED headlights on the Range Rover that include “Tourist” and “Signpost Dimming” settings. The former adjusts beam direction for driving on the right or left-side of the road, while the latter automatically turns off individual LEDs to prevent glare from road signs.
