New-car registrations in France fell year-on-year for the fifth consecutive month in January, but by only 1% to 155,100 units, trade group CCFA reports.

Volume shrank for France’s two domestic producers, dipping 2% to 54,900 units for PSA group and declining 3% to 36,000 for Renault SA. The two companies represent nearly 60% of the French market.

Among France’s largest import brands, January deliveries climbed for Volkswagen Group (+7% to 17,800 vehicles), Toyota/Lexus (+5% to 8,900) and Hyundai/Kia (+10% to 6,100).
