This week Honda Motor Co.’s engine plant in Anna, Ohio, built its 25 millionth powerplant since the facility opened in 1985.

The factory, Honda’s largest of its kind anywhere, produces nearly 1.2 million engines per year. The 4- and 6-cylinder powerplants are used in 14 Honda and Acura models assembled at three U.S. plants (Alabama, Indiana and Ohio), and several global sites, including Canada and the U.K.

Employing 3,200 people, the 2.5 million-sq-ft plant has four assembly lines and two casting operations. The 25 millionth engine was a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-banger that will be installed in a 2018 Accord midsize car.
