Ford Motor Co. is recalling 327,000 of its F-Series pickup trucks in North America to check engine block heater cables that may have been damaged in a previous recall.

A damaged cable could cause household circuit breakers to trip or create a short circuit that melts the wiring and causes a fire.

Ford recalled 874,000 of its 2015-2019 F-150 and 2017-2019 Super Duty trucks in December to fix the cable problem. The new campaign targets 327,000 of those vehicles in which the repairs may have caused new damage.

Ford says dealers will disable the engine block heater pending a third recall that will replace the damaged cable when parts become available.
