Ford Recalls 874,000 F-150 Pickup Trucks

Ford Motor Co. is calling back 874,000 of its F-150 pickup trucks to fix a faulty engine block heater cable connection.

The recall targets 2015-2019 F-150s and 2017-2019 Super Duty pickups sold in the U.S. and Canada. The campaign involves only trucks equipped with block heaters.

Ford says water and contaminants can leak into the heat system’s cabling and corrode it. The result could cause the cable to short-circuit and prevent the heater from working. A short-circuit also could trip household breakers when the heater is plugged in.

Dealers will inspect and replace the cable if necessary, or apply a protective grease to prevent corrosion.
