Ferrari Revs Up Tributo Supercar

Ferrari NV says its new F8 Tributo supercar is the most powerful V-8 model in the brand’s history.

The car’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 kicks out 710 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. This is an increase of 49 hp and 9 lb-ft over the same engine’s output in 488 GTB, which the F8 Tributo replaces in Ferrari’s lineup.

The new 812 Superfast, which is powered by an 810-hp V-12, is Ferrari’s most powerful non-electrified car. The brand’s overall performance champ is the 968-hp LaFerrari hybrid, which was produced in limited numbers between 2013 and 2016.
 

In the Tributo, the high-powered V-8 is mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ferrari says the car can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 211 mph.

Featuring an aluminum architecture, the Tributo has a dry weight of 2,930 lbs. That makes the new model 88 lbs lighter than the 488 GTB but 100 lbs heavier than Ferrari’s carbon fiber-based 720S.

Ferrari says the Tributo is 10% more aerodynamic than its predecessor. The car benefits from a redesigned front end that help boost downforce by 15%, according to the carmaker.

To improve engine cooling, the new adopts several features from the limited-edition 488 Pista. This includes the rearward-angled front radiators and air intakes positioned on either side of the spoiler rather on the rear flanks.

Ferrari describes the car’s design as a bridge to the marque’s next-generation styling. Highlights include an edgier shape, redesigned LED headlights, improved brake cooling intakes and a 7-inch touchscreen in the passenger cabin.

Ferrari will publicly unveil the F8 Tributo at next week’s Geneva auto show.
