Bob Lee, who heads Fiat Chrysler Automobile NV’s global powertrain development, is retiring at the end of April.

Lee is best-known for championing the return of the iconic “hemi” V-8 engine to FCA’s lineup in the U.S., and for leading development of the company’s ubiquitous Pentastar V-6 engine.

The 41-year FCA veteran has been a member of the company’s elite Group Executive Council for the past eight years. The company tells Bloomberg News it is not ready to announce Lee’s successor.
