Home appliance maker Dyson Ltd. has revealed a patent sketch of the electric car it plans to debut in 2021.

The drawing (above) indicates a wagonlike, three-row car with oversize wheels, a long wheelbase, a sharply sloped windshield and a large underfloor battery tray. But company founder James Dyson tells his staff that the drawing illustration doesn’t actually indicate the final appearance of the car or reveal specifics about its performance.

The company announced in 2017 that it intended to design and produce its own EV. The vehicle will be powered by a high-speed “digital” electric motor inspired by the motors used in its high-tech vacuum cleaners. Dyson tells staffers that vehicle testing will begin in June.

The company operates a 517-acre vehicle development center in Hullavington, England, and expects to open an EV manufacturing plant in Singapore next year.
