BMW AG is recalling an additional 184,500 cars in the U.S. to fix an electrical problem that could cause a fire in the engine compartment.

The new campaign expands a recall launched in November 2917 of 740,600 vehicles afflicted with the same issue: a possible short circuit in the heater for the engine’s positive crankcase ventilation valve.

The new callback, expected to begin at the end of May, involves 2006 model Z4 sports cars and 2- and 4-wheel drive 3 Series and 5 Series sedans and wagons.

The earlier recall covered the same models, plus X3 and X5 crossover vehicles, for the 2007-2011 model years.
